Can I use Scopix with my standard trocar?

Yes, Scopix will work with the leading trocar manufacturers including Medtronic, Ethicon, and Applied Medical.

What sizes are available?

Initially we will offer Scopix in the following sizes: 5mm, 11mm, and 12mm. This will be followed by the 8mm which is commonly used for robotic applications.

Will Scopix interfere with the functionality of my trocars?

Once the trocar is inserted using the obturator it came with, the subsequent placement of Scopix will not interfere with functionality, as defined by: the ability to maintain a gas seal, the ability to pass instruments in and out, and the ability to operate other devices. Scopix will easily be installed at the beginning of the procedure and discarded with the disposable trocar at the end of the procedure.

Will Scopix work with my angled endoscopes?

Yes, Scopix will work with all commercially available angled endoscopes – most commonly the 10°, 30°, and 45° degree scopes.

What types of debris can Scopix clear/clean?

Scopix will clear fog, red out blood, and stubborn electro cautery plume – all WITHOUT removing your scope from the body!

Do I ever have to remove Scopix from the trocar?

The elements within Scopix can be cleaned if necessary by simply flushing 5mm of saline through the stopcock of the trocar.

How durable is Scopix during long complex procedures?

This is the greatest value Scopix offers a surgeon! Bench and animal labs have demonstrated that Scopix can endure over 100 consecutive cleanings without degradation of the device.

What is involved with installing Scopix in my trocar?

Scopix is a top-loaded device and is simply placed in the trocar cannula following the removal of the obturator once placed in the body. No cables, gas lines, or controllers are required.

What is the learning curve to use Scopix effectively?

The average learning curve for a surgeon is approximately 2 minutes. The simple technique of withdrawing the scope into the Scopix device without removing the scope from the trocar is natural and intuitive. This is one of the key attributes of the device because the surgeon can watch the scope being cleaned.

What if I want to change my camera port?

There are two options:
1. Simply remove the top-loaded Scopix from the current port and install it into the new port, or quadrant. This is if you plan on returning to the original port later in the procedure.
2. Install a second Scopix for your new camera port. This is a good option if you intend to use a different size port and scope.

Is Scopix expensive?

Scopix is often less than the cost of 1 trocar.
